Meet Keely

Keely is our 12 year old niece who will begin a 4 day long brain surgery. This fall, Keely was diagnosed with an arterial vascular malformation (AVM), which is a congenital disorder of abnormal connections between arteries and veins in the brain and a lesion, which is an injury or pathological change in tissue in the brain.

The surgeon will put her in a medically induced coma for four days. On the first day, she will undergo an embolization, which is a non-surgical procedure to prevent blood flow to that specific area of her brain. On the second day her neurosurgeon will perform the AVM surgery. The third day has been declared a day of rest for her body before surgical removal of the lesion on the fourth day (this will be on Thursday, Dec. 18th).

After reading this please say a prayer for Keely and the surgeon who will be doing the surgery.

This makes me tear up, seriously. No 12 year should have to undergo such surgery, however it is amazing that there is such a surgery to help her. We will keep Keely and your family in our prayers.
