We arrived!
I am happy to report that we arrived on Friday! It was a little tricky getting here with a few small problems along the way. First, we woke up that morning at 5 am and it was raining outside. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but all of our luggage was going to be in the back of a pick-up truck. But thanks to my brother inlaw we were able to put our stuff in plastic bags and then cover everything with a tarp. After arriving at the airport, we were getting ready to check bags and were informed that no boxes could be checked. We had 3 large boxes and one small box that were filled with toys and clothes. They explained that no boxes could be shipped to Central and South America until Aug. 18th (this was Aug. 16th). Of course our ride had already left and we were left standing there with no idea what to do. American told us our options would be to Fed Ex or UPS our stuff. Obviously, that wasn't going work. Standing there in shock (with our 3 small kids running circles around us) we started working on redistrubuting our things. Thankfully, we had a big bag that we had used to carry Cole's carseat. We took the carseat out and dumped a ton of stuff inside there. We also had a large duffle bag that had the two booster seats inside. We took those out and checked the booster seats and literally crammed that bag full of the other stuff. Amazingly, it all fit. We took the smaller box and just carried it on with us even though it was too big for a carry on! The reservation guy didn't dare charge us a fee for being overweight! Needless to say that was a high stress situation! After boarding the plane we were finally given the to ahead to take off. According to the captain we were one of the last planes to take off due to the weather. It was huge that we left when we did because there is only one flight a day out of Miami to Tegucigalpa. We arrive on Friday afternoon and were taken straight to our house. What a huge blessing to avoid temporary housing!
